Welcome to Rays News section

Good Friday is a perfect time to get the family together, and let those closest to you know how much they mean to you. You don’t have to be religious to appreciate the day as a day for family and friends; and as it’s a bank holiday, it’s an ideal chance to gather everyone you love and celebrate!

Make the most of the bank holiday this year with the Good Friday celebration cakes from Ray’s Bakery. If you’re entertaining, or going to a gathering, the celebration cakes baked fresh every day by our expert bakers are the perfect thing to bring along – or you could pick up a box of our wonderful Hot Cross Buns, a traditional Good Friday and Easter classic, made with love and care every day of the Easter period.

Good Friday Cakes from Ray’s Bakery

Our Good Friday celebration cakes are made fresh in our bakeries every day, and there’s a range of cakes available, from classic fruit sponges and sandwiches to Belgian Chocolate masterpieces fit for the sweetest tooth in all of us.

For those with a lighter appetite or those in search of something a little smaller, we also handmake a selection of cupcakes every morning, decorated with traditional or fun designs to create a little something for everyone! Whatever you’re looking for, whether it’s a full gift-wrapped celebration cake or just one perfect cupcake, you’ll find it at Ray’s Bakery.

Hot Cross Buns

At Ray’s Bakery, we love to have something a little special for every time of year, from our award-winning Christmas Puddings to our delicious Mother’s Day Simnel Cakes and Halloween Cupcakes. Good Friday and Easter are no different, with our traditional hot cross buns baked fresh every day at both of our bakeries throughout the Easter period. Absolutely perfect toasted with butter and a cup of tea, a box of these hot cross buns is guaranteed to go down well at a family gathering or Good Friday lunch! We also serve our hot cross buns in our café throughout the Easter period, as part of our special Easter afternoon tea.

Easter Teas in Our Café

If you are looking for something a little more relaxing, our café will be serving a special Easter Tea over the Easter period, which includes sandwiches made with our fresh-baked bread, traditional Easter Simnel cake and a toasted hot cross bun, as well as a pot of tea or a cup of coffee. Visit our café this Easter and try it for yourself!

Visit Our Bakeries Today!

If you’d like a closer look at our full bakery range, why not visit one of our bakeries today? Ray’s Bakery has two stores; our home store in Prescot, where Marion Ray first set up shop, and a bakery in Allerton, closer to Liverpool city centre. Our Prescot Bakery is open from 08.30am to 5.00pm every weekday, and from 08.30am to 4.00pm on Saturday, so you’ll be able to pop in to pick up one of our baked treats at a time that suits you!

If you’re closer to our Allerton store, you can find it open from 09.00am until 5.00pm on Monday, and from 08.30am to 5.00pm Tuesday to Saturday! Each of our stores also has a coffee shop where you can enjoy a cup of tea, a coffee or a cold drink, and try a sample of the goods from the bakery. It’s the perfect place to try a slice of our cakes, to see if they really do taste as good as they look before you buy one (they do).

If you find something you love, why not pick one up to take home after your coffee?
